Place / Displacement will take on the issues
Issues of gentrification, affordability, and social justice are all very complicated aspects of living in the dynamic city of San Francisco. How will we figure it all out?
In her first show as Curator for Inquiry and Impact at SOMArts, Melorra Green has asked me to join over 40 other artists and organizations to help sort through the intricacies and subtleties of these issues. With art, we can strike at the truth of what’s going on, while avoiding the pitfalls of blame and recrimination.
I’ll be showing paintings from the City of Awesome project and asking people to draw their ideas about how to best decorate our neighborhoods.
The opening reception will be a veritable festival of creativity.
