Zooplankton Experiments
marker, pencil, tape, and tissues on paper, 20" x 20", 2015

While subbing for the marine science teacher at Galileo High School, I learned that jellyfish are actually a type of plankton. So I did some science - observing the jellyfish (via a textbook) with this new knowledge, and documenting my impressions.

Sometimes I like to experiment with what I can make using only the materials in the classroom. First I used some colored pencils and crayola markers on paper, but I wanted to fill more space, so I smeared some water across the marker to turn it into watercolor.

I wanted to front edge of the jellyfish to pop a little more, so I taped some tissues on.
