Hardly Strictly Educational

Thanks to a generous endowment from Warren Hellman’s estate,  every sixth grade student in the San Francisco Unified School District is brought to Golden Gate Park to hear the first performances of the wildly popular Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival.

This show is a somewhat massive logistical undertaking for the concert organizers, the school district, and all the school administrators and teachers involved.

Here are some ideas, organized in a PDF, for how to use bluegrass music and the excitement of the concert event to teach to the standards in each core subject, with an emphasis on science: Hardly Strictly Educational.

Please, let me know if you use these resources in anyway. Your feedback is welcome and appreciated. And do share any art your classes make!
