Travels Through Spain
When I travel, I bring my sketchbook. This summer I visited family in New York on the way to a trip through Spain.
You can see more travel art, as well as great travel writing and photography by my special-lady-partner-person, Lauren Girardin, in our dormant blog at Ephemerratic.com.
We joked that it was “bring your son to class” day at Liz Fusco’s watercolor class at the Art League of Long Island.

Gifted to tour guide.
At Bodegas Tradición, we enjoyed a charming tour of the sherry casks followed by a tasting of each of their sherry’s (with some charcuterie).
After the tasting, we got to visit the impressive art collection, which included some masterpieces by the likes of El Greco.
They also displayed paintings on ceramic by PIcasso from when he was a small child and from when he was an older man. As Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
Dancing Horse Sketches
pencil on paper, 2023
We saw a show of the The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art to see the dancing horses of Jerez de la Frontera. We hope that the horses aren’t abused too much to get them to prance that way.

Drawing portraits is a lovely way to meet people and make friends.
By the way, this was just about the only time we took our masks off inside the entire trip.
