So much music
I love to draw musicians. They hold basically the same pose, but with a lot of energy. It’s interesting to try to capture the rhythm and feeling of music in art.
San Francisco has been delivering plenty of outdoor live shows to enjoy. Keep scrolling to see art from 2 Noise Pop events, the 20th Street Block Party and Due South, as well as drawings from the first day of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.
All of this art was created live and in-the-moment.
The 20th Street Block Party
This year, this annual event moved over to Valencia Street where there was more much-needed space. I really appreciated the woman who used the event as an opportunity to hold a moving sale. I bought a lovely set of fat markers which helped me fill these pages with enough color to properly represent the energy at this party.

Due South at Jerry Garcia Amphitheater
La Misa Negra opened for Ozomatli at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in Maclaren Park on a lovely, if chilly, day. I would have drawn more details and the headliner band, but this was music we all had to dance to.
Friday at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
The crowds at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival can be overwhelming, so we went on Friday afternoon and joined friends to watch the show on the Banjo Stage. It was a beautiful day and people were dressed up and feeling the groove.
