I was commissioned to make art and provide some drawings for a fantastic celebration of the pedestrian-friendly Richmond District.
The painting I created for this event is a depiction of JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park titled “River of Joy.”
I tried to capture the energy and activity that can happen when space for cars is given over to pedestrians and bike-riders.
Meet at Green Apple Books then roll down Richmond Slow Streets and end at the Balboa Theatre. Support local businesses & participate in an art hunt highlighting local artwork & poetry.
Email richmondtransponetwork@gmail.com with questions. The latest updates will likely come via the @FamilyTransitD1 twitter.
Then you can plan for a #TotalSF viewing party of the Netflix movie, “Always Be My Maybe”.
You can also find a dozen of my drawings in the art hunt, including a drawing I made at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in 2014 and a selection of “machine drawings” that I think have a nice thematic resonance with how slow streets can transform a neighborhood.
