Observer Corps Training

I draw while I listen, and drawing gives me the patience to pay attention to long meetings. That means I can use my art practice to observe public meetings.

“If someone is watching, government behaves better.”

To learn more about how to be an observer of government meetings, I attended a League of Women Voters of San Francisco Observer Corps Training. Jennifer Waggoner told us about how and why LWVSF volunteers organize to keep an eye on community meetings by the San Francisco Police Department. They post notes from each meeting online here.
