acrylic on canvas, 11" x 14", 2013 :: Melissa commissioned me to make this painting as a gift for her husband, Jacob. It includes some of their favorite spots near their home in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. Precita Park with its flying saucer spinner and Precita Park Cafe are in the foreground. You can also see the Hillside Supper Club and Harvest Hills Market (which they still call Cancilla Market), the pointy-spire of the house at the corner of Norwich and Alabama, and the top of the yellow farmhouse on Harrison. And, of course, that's Melissa, Jacob, and Vivienne playing with their black dog, Indy, and their white dog, Ooma, on top of Bernal Hill. SOLD, acrylic on cavas, 30"x 40," 2005 Part of the Gardens of Telegraph Hill diptych. This is the view from the top of the Filbert Steps, which is known for its community gardens. The sides of these two canvases are collaged with excerpts from the book, "San Francisco's Telegraph Hill," which provides histories of individual houses through many (often unintentionly) humorous anecdotes.
